Drones as a Weapon to Combat ISIS

quad drone

The United States and Russia want more modern aircraft. But Ukraine does not have the necessary resources to train their soldiers in these types of aircraft. The Ukrainians can get training on planes and vehicles in Western countries, but not the same on drones here. Ukrainians are accustomed to older equipment like trucks so drones make it easier to use. Drones don't require pilots, making them easier for soldiers to use. Drones have a similar interface to video games, making them easy to use.

Aerorozvidka

The Ukrainian military uses a unique approach to combating ISIS in eastern Ukraine: octocopters equipped with thermal cameras for nighttime missions. Some drones are fitted with anti-tank weapons and even have the capability to light up columns. These drones are highly maneuverable, and can carry as much 11 lbs payload. Small size allows drones to fly low over targets, dropping munitions.

Aerorozvidka started out as an IT enthusiast organization. Today, Aerorozvidka is a military-grade air reconnaissance unit. The organization's first mission was as a civilian drone company, but over time, it evolved into a full-fledged unit with its own head. Due to export restrictions, the Ukrainian government prohibited Russian military aircraft entry into Ukraine. Aerorozvidka relies upon crowdfunding and donations to maintain its existence since many of its components are manufactured in the US.

Switchblade

The U.S. military supplied Ukraine with the armed "Switchblade", drones that are capable of hitting Russian tanks hundreds of miles away. These unmanned aircraft vehicles were created by the US Air Force in response a Ukrainian request. John Kirby from the Pentagon stated that over 121 of these machines were being sent to Ukraine. There is not yet any information about how the Switchblades are used in the conflict with Ukraine.

The Switchblade drone is small and easy to launch from a tube. It has a range 40 km. The Switchblade can hit Russian convoys from 6 miles away, unlike Bayraktar drones. These small aircraft can easily be assembled in minutes for a conflict such as Ukraine. The Switchblade's speed is faster than that of the Bayraktar. This is the current U.S. Ally.

Russian kamikaze drones

The US announced recently that they would be providing $800 million of military aid to Ukraine. The delivery of 121 unmanned aircraft called "Phoenix Ghosts", which is intended to terrorize Russian forces, is part of the package. These aircraft, which are designed to fly over areas for thirty to forty minutes, are equipped with warheads and cameras. The Switchblade is a hovering munition weighing 5.5 pounds that can destroy tanks and armored vehicles.

These lightweight, small aircrafts can be operated from land, sea, and air thanks to their powerful, low-flying, gimbal. Any advantage that an opponent has in the air battle is crucial in a conflict such as this. The Russian kamikaze drones are a direct threat. This capability will prove to be critical for Ukraine's defense, since it can break Russian sieges as well as attack command-and-control centers. While such capabilities would be a major liability for both sides, if a small drone can make a difference on the battlefield, Ukraine could emerge as the victor.

U.S. loitering Drones

Russia is integrating ZALA KYB loitering weapons into its military arsenal. These drones can be used in the same way as bazookas to carry out lethal loitering operations. These autonomous killing machines may be more common in black markets if loitering drones are used. However, observers and pundits worry about this. So what can America do to stop this happening?

According to Kirby, the U.S. government has dispatched more than 121 Switchblade loitering drones to Ukraine to help Kiev fight Russian forces. The Switchblade drone is 5.5 pounds and can hover over an area for thirty to forty minutes. It comes with a camera as well as a small warhead. Its mission is to eliminate the opposition forces within Ukraine.

FAQ

How do I keep drones away from my house?

Drones are becoming more common for home surveillance. However they can also be a threat to privacy or security. To avoid drone attacks, install motion sensors around the property. They will detect any unapproved flying objects.

Is drone regulation regulated by the FAA

The FAA supervises all aspects related to drone operations, including certification requirements and safety standards.

Are drones permitted at public events?

What's the difference between quadcopters and hexacopters?

A quadcopter, a four-rotor helicopter, flies just like a helicopter. It has four rotors that rotate independently. The hexacopter can be described as a quadcopter but has six rotors, instead of the usual four. Hexacopters can be more stable and maneuverable that quadcopters.

Traveling with a Drone?

Drones have become increasingly popular for commercial and personal purposes. They are used for photography, filming, aerial mapping, search & rescue, and other applications. The FAA has recently approved several new drone regulations, which include requirements for registration, licensing, pilot training, and insurance. These new regulations will ensure drones are safe for all.

Can my drone be flown in my local park?
